LatinoLEAD Embarks on Second 5-Year Strategic Planning Journey

LatinoLEAD is excited to announce the commencement of our second 5-year strategic planning initiative, in collaboration with Propel Nonprofits led by one of our LatinoLEAD network leaders and nonprofit experts, Mario Hernandez. This journey, which began in February 2024, was launched during our 2nd Annual Meeting with the LatinoLEAD Network, Board of Directors, and Partners. The 2nd Annual Meeting not only provided a brief retrospective of our accomplishments in 2023, but also served as a crucial platform for envisioning the future.

During the meeting, our network was tasked with asking critical questions that will shape our strategic direction: How can we make LatinoLEAD an even better organization for you and our Latine ecosystem? How should we serve more of our community? How can we use our collective influence to improve the quality of life for Latines in Minnesota?

The 2nd Annual Meeting’s interactive session was designed to involve the network in the initial stages of the upcoming strategic planning and enable a diversity of thought. Whether this event was their first interaction with LatinoLEAD to founding network members, our organization continues its commitment to hearing from the various voices within our comunidad. This session encouraged active participation and collaborative brainstorming, ensuring that the thoughts of our community members are at the forefront of our planning process. From the insights gathered during the interactive session, LatinoLEAD has been diligently working with Propel Nonprofits through regular Strategic Approach Team meetings. These meetings have been instrumental in refining our objectives and aligning our goals with the needs and aspirations of our community for at least the next 5 years.

In addition to these regular meetings, LatinoLEAD held a network-wide listening session on Tuesday, June 11th with community members at North House, ranging from our founding network members to our current wave of Avanzando Liderazgo Program (ALP) alumni. This listening session provided a comprehensive understanding of our community's diverse perspectives and needs, further informing our strategic planning process.

Irma Márquez Trapero, our Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the importance of this inclusive approach: "At LatinoLEAD, we believe that our strength lies in nuestra comunidad. By involving members at every level of engagement, we ensure that our strategic plan truly reflects the aspirations and needs of our community. This process is not just about planning; it's about empowering and uplifting our community."

Our collaboration with Propel Nonprofits has been pivotal in navigating this complex and essential planning phase. Their expertise and facilitation have helped us to structure our discussions, identify key priorities, and develop actionable strategies that will guide us over the next five years. As we move forward, our strategic planning process will continue to be grounded in our 4 core values of Leadership, Equity, Achievement, and Development. We are committed to serving more of our community, enhancing our organizational effectiveness, and leveraging our collective influence to create a more equitable and prosperous future for Latines across Minnesota.

We are grateful for the unwavering support and active participation of our network members, board of directors, and partners. Your insights and dedication are invaluable as we chart the course for the next chapter of LatinoLEAD. Stay tuned for more updates on our strategic planning journey. Together, we will continue to advance our mission and make a lasting impact in the lives of Latines in Minnesota.
