The 2025 Minnesota Legislative Session has some powerful legislative advocacy efforts for EL students in partnership with MCLA, MNEEP and LatinoLEAD, yet vital opportunities to strengthen our future workforce and provide essential support to Minnesota families were missed.
Our commitment now is to turn that disappointment into data-driven action.
From Missed Opportunity to Community-Powered Solution
The clear advocacy gap seen in the 2025 session is the exact problem the LatinoLEAD World Café Series was designed to address. For the last year, we have actively engaged with Latine, Native and multilingual parents and families across Minnesota—from community centers to school districts—to gather their lived experiences, concerns, and most importantly, their solutions.
“Across Minnesota, we’ve been intentional about listening to parents and building bridges through honest conversation. When families understand what’s happening in schools, they become advocates and good neighbors shaping a stronger future for all Minnesotans. The World Café process shows that when multilingual parents share their experiences and hopes, advocacy becomes more effective, equitable, and rooted in community. This is about connection—between families, educators, and the workforce that will define our shared prosperity.” –Sabrina Tapia, Advocacy Program Manager
