Minnesota Council on Latino Affairs : June 6, 2016
Dear Community,
On Thursday, June 9th, the Minnesota Council on Latino Affairs will co – host with the Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans and Council for Minnesotans of African Heritage the 2016 Legislative Session Recap. As our council under goes transformation, we want to remain transparent and inform our communities on our legislative achievements. This year, the three restructured ethnic councils are excited to host this session recap together as one of our many collaborative efforts.
We hope that you, members of our Latino community, will take time to join us.
The event details are as follow: Date: Thursday, June 9, 2016 Time: 5:30 – 7:30 P.M. Location: Neighborhood House This year’s program will consist of two panels – one with the three ethnic councils’ executive directors and the other with legislators. We hope this format will foster an engaging and overall informative experience for our cultural communities for whom these councils were created to advise and advocate on behalf of in state government, particularly in the policy making process.
Our Council’s goals for this legislative session recap:
To inform you about key legislative outcomes of the 2016 Session.
To foster direct communication between you and legislative representatives.
To encourage you to directly engage in the policy-making process.
Key policy areas the ethnic council directors and legislators will address: K-12 Education Higher Education Jobs and Economic Development Health and Human Services Housing
