LatinoLEAD has a variety of internal and external communication responsibilities. We provide a monthly newsletter, content via our email and social media platforms, a monthly video series, weekly updates from our internal committees, and content related to pertinent current events, policies and other issues impacting the Latinx community. We currently use part-time consultants to strategize, plan and manage this work. The communications manager’s role is critical to crystalizing and amplifying the voice, mission, and priorities of our organization to our membership and broader community. This means that skills in Spanish and English are preferred in executing this role.


The Communications Manager will build and execute a plan and process of communication for our organization that is nimble, responsive, and proactive. We want to be a resource and leader for information, connections, and action.

  • Developing and executing the overall communications plan/strategy for the organization

  • Provide strategic counsel and strategy to leadership, committee members and board members as necessary

  • Manage the organization’s website by developing and posting content that is timely and relevant

  • Monitoring, sharing and framing relevant issues/opportunities, stories, new research, and media reports and initiatives to the LatinoLEAD network

  • Engaging in the local and regional cultivation of relevant media outlets, journalists and analysts across all media formats, with an emphasis on growing reporter relationships in the mainstream and Latinx media sources

  • Developing and coordinating a media relations plan

  • Collaborating with initiative and team leaders to create and advance communications strategies in support of programmatic and policy goals

  • Drafting and disseminating written communications materials, using clear, compelling core messages.

  • Creating, planning, and executing a digital strategy for LatinoLEAD to ensure the network’s messages and priorities are being effectively communicated through various on-line platforms.

  • Staying on top of general media trends regarding LatinoLEAD’s issues, and monitoring the news cycle in order to take rapid response actions related to communications and media

  • In collaboration with leadership, support the planning and execution of the organization's virtual and in person leadership series and conference

This is not a traditional desk job. You will spend many days on the phone/video or in email communicating with our staff, media, or community. You will participate in a variety of committees, events, and we are interested in candidates who are passionate about relationships and leveraging platforms to connect with our internal and external network. We are looking for someone passionate about playing a critically important role at our fast-growing organization.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish. We need to meet the needs of our community and someone who can navigate multiple languages would be highly valued.

  • Skills in content development, maintaining and promoting a brand.

  • Knowledge in using social media platforms to grow and enhance engagement and network recruitment.

  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office, Hootsuite, email marketing, and software database platforms.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or extensive experience in this field

  • Strong growth mindset

  • Two to four years of related experience in a communications or marketing role


Status: Full Time, Salaried

Reports to: Executive Director

Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 (health benefits will be available)

Location: LatinoLEAD prioritizes the safety of its employees and therefore, our staff has the flexibility to work remotely. We hoping to return to the office in September. Offices are located at 797 East 7th Street (Suite #151), Saint Paul, MN 55106.
